How soon can I book an appointment with a Hillarys blinds advisor?
When booking online, you'll be asked for three convenient dates and times in descending order of preference. The earliest available date is usually a couple of days ahead, with the latest being up to about 11 days away. You can also book by calling freephone 0800 916 7759 - lines are open Mon-Fri 8.30am-9pm, Sat & Sun 9am-5pm.
If I choose Hillarys Blinds, how soon will they fit them?
When you place an order, the advisor will book a date with you fit them - usually around two to three weeks from the date of ordering.
Can I have wooden venetian blinds in my kitchen or bathroom?
Those rooms can be steamy and humid, which can sometimes cause real wood to warp. Wood effect blinds are made from aluminium and won't warp. They're also easy to maintain and cheaper, too!
What wood are wooden venetian blinds made from?
Many of our featured suppliers use basswood for their wooden venetian blinds. This is strong, durable and comes from managed forests.
I have awkwardly shaped windows - what blinds should I buy?
You may have a wider choice than you think, thanks to versatile components like curved headrails. For specific advice, a Hillarys appointment may be a good idea - their advisors have extensive experience of all kinds of window shapes and they can give you a quote for made-to-measure blinds that includes fitting at no extra cost.
What are the best blinds for bay windows?
It's largely a matter of personal choice. Hillarys could fit a single set of vertical blinds for you using a curved headrail. Or you may prefer to have separate blinds fitted to each section of the window, for even more flexible control over lighting. Separate blinds could be of any type you like.
What blinds are best for providing privacy, whilst still letting light in?
The slats on venetian and vertical blinds can be angled to provide both privacy and incoming light. Café style shutters offer similar benefits.
What type of blinds should I fit in a bathroom?
Bearing in mind that bathrooms can be humid and steamy, vertical blinds with water-resistant PVC slats would be ideal, as would wood-effect venetian blinds, made from Aluwood (aluminium with a wood-like finish).

What are the differences between recess and exact measurements?
A custom blind made to fit within a recess will have its size adjusted by the supplier to ensure it fits properly in the space. Exact blinds are made to go outside recesses and are made to the exact sizes you provide.
Can your featured suppliers make a blind if I supply the fabric?
Unfortunately not; they use only their own fabrics. Their fabrics and materials (wood, vinyl, aluminium, etc) have been through prescribed quality testing procedures in order to be covered by the blinds suppliers' respective guarantees.
Where can I buy made-to-measure roman blinds with a side winding mechanism?
Hillarys provides and fits made-to-measure roman blinds with side winding controls, just like on roller blinds. Roman blinds from some other suppliers may rely on cord controls and be secured using a metal cleat on the window frame or wall.
